Acadia Cove Farm - A lifetime dream, our Western Red Cedar and green gabled home on Jones Cove overlooking Hog Island, Frenchman's Bay and the mountains of Acadia National Park sits on a heavily wooded 2 1/2 acre lot on the Schoodic Peninsula (the quiet side of Acadia),  While still in the "dating" mode some 40+ years ago, we often talked of someday living in Maine even though neither one of us had ever been there.  Throughout the years of careers, childrearing, moving every three or four years with the Air Force, and bed and breakfast owners for eight years, the dream would always be with us and in 1990, we made our first, exciting trip to Wiscassett and Boothbay Harbor, Maine.  We fell in love!  On subsequent annual trips we saw Portland, Camden, Rockland, Belfast, Bar Harbor and many more lovely towns up and down the beautiful, rocky coast.  Our first love, however, had always been the area around Acadia National Park.  The breathtaking beauty of the pink granite shoreline would cast it's spell on us.  In 1998, we decided to begin looking for a plot of land along the shoreline to purchase for our future home and in 1999, our realtor found the perfect spot for us.  We intended to wait a few more years to build our dream home overlooking the bay, but our enthusiasm just got the better of us and we forged ahead, building our home with the help of a very internet savvy builder!

The rest is history and we are now up here full time, soaking up the sunshine while relaxing to the sounds of birds, squirrels and the breeze whispering through the dense woods of spruce, firs and birches.  Our 150 feet of ocean frontage on Jones Cove is in a tidal area and at low tide, we can stroll along the rocky beach or venture out to enjoy clamming or collecting mussels to enjoy with our freshly caught lobster dinner.

We miss all our friends in Old Louisville, but have made some great new ones here.  John has gotten lots of great advice about living in Maine from his new friends at the Franklin Veteran's Club and we are learning to slow down to a simpler life.  To get a really great look at a slice of Downeast life, visit www.franklinmaine.net website - the webmaster has a quick wit and you'll find lots of interesting links.

From our years of hosting artists at Inn at the Park in Louisville, several renowned artists have found a home for their works at Acadia Cove Farm.  You will find original paintings of various Downeast landmarks by John Mullins, fine art photography by Jack Stoddart, and pottery by David Ross. To see more of Jack's art, please visit his website at www.jackstoddart.com

We hope to update this family site on a regular basis, so please visit with us frequently!
